Do’s and Don’ts for a Purrfect Howliday Season

November 24, 2019

Cheers to the holiday season! Here are a few tips to keep your pets healthy and safe:

DO keep an eye on pets around open flames.

Fireplaces can be a cozy, yet dangerous place for your furry ones so be sure to monitor them when there’s a fire going. Candles should also be left out of reach so that they won’t be knocked over.

DON’T leave cords exposed.

Cords are dangerous for all pets so be sure to hide them safely.

DO pet-proof your home.

A few holiday plants and decorations to keep away from your pets are mistletoe, holly, poinsettias, tinsel, and pine needles. Be sure to securely anchor bigger holiday plants to ensure they don’t tip and fall.

DO plan a pet-safe holiday gathering.

Be sure to lock all medications away. With guests in the house, have a quiet space for your pets to retreat to – with fresh water and a cozy place to snuggle up. As you ring in the New Year, be sure to keep in mind any loud noises that might startle your furry ones.

DON’T give your pet holiday dinner leftovers.

Many foods can cause an upset stomach – or even be dangerous to your furry ones. A couple of extra pet-friendly treats are a better alternative!

DO offer a pet-friendly holiday treat.

Consider making pupkin dog treats at home; here are a few recipes to try.
